Cpvc Vs Copper

Today I am going to discuss on the topic Cpvc Vs Copper. Cpvc is a thermoplastic pipe material which is nationally accepted since 1982.It has got huge advantage as compared to other pipes. It is usually used to supply hot and cold water and in industries liquid applications. The benefits that cpvc provides are –it provides great heat resistance and also withstand corrosive water temperatures. It provides great strengths and flexibility. It is less ductile and non toxic.

The very pipe is also resistant to chemicals and with residues it is quite durable. It is plastic but is not subject to electolysis. It requires only special solvent cement for installation and the process I is also very safe and fast. It generally last longer and less susceptible to failures.

Again Cpvc has some drawbacks. The person who uses this material for drinking water complains that they get a taste of plastic in water. Some people complain that their fittings are subject to cracking where there is an earthquake. Some says that bacteria can grow in this pipe easily.

Now if we switch over to the use of copper pipes we can find out its advantages too. Coppers hydraulic superior flow permit precise tube and proper sizing. We can also count the dependable performance if we use more copper in installation. Since metal are first employed it has been first used for plumbing and mechanization. It is very popular in heating system and is named as superior to alternative material.

It has a problem free performance. Copper has passed the test of time has become the very satisfying product which was used for centuries and now has gained its name in a modern way. It is very light as a modern preference and again strong as ancient times and it is also corrosion resistant. It assures compliance with major building codes. It does not support combustion so there are no risk of carrying fire through floors, walls and ceilings.

Again copper has some disadvantages. Most importantly it is very expensive.

Though it is very tough to decide which one is best but most of the people say that cpvc seems easier where copper needs to be shouldered. Some says when you are all cpvc cut and ready to run in water, cut the copper when you want to tie in. Now if we sip the two ends of copper pipes and cpvc that is called shark tooth fittings.

Cpvc Vs Copper

It is ok to use cpvc for hot water going into the house and out but then if we reconnect the existing copper. We will observe that we never have to do anything with the copper.

Though there is a long debate in plumbing circle about copper or cpvc, copper has been used in North America and has installed successfully for 50 years. In contrast cpvc piping isn't universally compliant.
